O Come To The Altar — Elevation Worship
(Alaina Farnsworth and Trinity)

Call to Worship

Colossians 3:14 (NLT)

Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.

Almighty God, fill our worship with grace, that every thought, word, and deed may be acceptable to you.  By your power may we, with all the saints, comprehend the breadth and length and height and depth of the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that we may be filled with your fullness.  Silence all voices within our minds but your own.  Help us to seek and be able to follow your will.  May our prayers be joined with those of our sisters and brothers in the faith, that together we may glorify your name and enjoy your fellowship forever.  Amen.

The First Scripture Reading is from…
 Acts 2:41-47

41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

The Second Scripture Reading is from …
1 Corinthians 11:17-22

17 In the following directives I have no praise for you, for your meetings do more harm than good. 18 In the first place, I hear that when you come together as a church, there are divisions among you, and to some extent I believe it. 19 No doubt there have to be differences among you to show which of you have God’s approval. 20 So then, when you come together, it is not the Lord’s Supper you eat,21 for when you are eating, some of you go ahead with your own private suppers. As a result, one person remains hungry and another gets drunk. 22 Don’t you have homes to eat and drink in? Or do you despise the church of God by humiliating those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you? Certainly not in this matter!

Personal/Family Reflection

Reflect on the discussion starters below for personal or family reflection…

  1. What do you think gets in the way of local churches practicing and embodying the way of Jesus with one another?
  2. Can you describe a time when you were part of group, but felt disconnected, left out, isolated, and unwanted?
  3. Can you describe a time when someone made you feel wanted, included, invested in, and loved?  How did it make you feel?  Have you been able to imitate that at Trinity?
  4. Within the last month, how have you personally reached out to someone at Trinity (outside your normal contacts) to express your care and interest in their life?  Who could you call today?

Time of Prayer
(Take some time to pray personally or for others in your own words that the world would be infected with the life and love of King Jesus.)

We Are One In The Bond Of Love

Second Service Sending Song

John 13:34-35 (NIV)
A new command I give you: Love one another.
As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
By this everyone will know that you are my disciples,
if you love one another.
